Frequently Asked Questions

What is Akaar?

Akaar is an online manufacturing platform based in Bengaluru. Akaar does 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CNC Routing, CNC Machining and various other computer aided manufacturing. We work on a motive which says 'Manufacturing, Simplified', if you have an idea, just design it, we’ll manufacture it and deliver to you.

How does Akaar work?

To get started, a customer submits an order with CAD models which are DFM ready to the Akaar platform and receives a price estimate that includes machining, materials, and delivery costs. Akaar manages production, material procurement, delivery, and payments. Every order has individual quality control engineers, to ensure that parts are manufactured as per requirement.

What is 3D Printing?

3D printing is a manufacturing process to create three dimensional models directly from digital blueprints. Usually it utilises successive layer addition technique called “Additive Manufacturing”. Product is created by simple horizontal layer by layer addition of material from bottom to the top. You can find out more about 3D Printing here.

What is Laser cutting?

Laser cutting is a relatively new machining technology which utilises laser to cut materials. This is currently used widely in different industries for precision machining. It employs a strong focused laser beam which is projected to the material to be cut or machined. Material either burns, vaporises or melts. There is usually no waste production in laser cutting as material vaporises. You can find more about laser cutting here.

What is CNC Routing?

CNC Router is a cutting machine that is controlled and manipulated completely by a laptop or computer. It would be wrong to say this device as a wood cutting machine as a huge variety of materials can be cut from these machines aluminum, steel composites, plastics and foams naming a few. You can find out more about CNC Routing here.
